Leah Bryans
Leah is a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. She graduated from University College Dublin in 2003 with BSc honours in Physiotherapy. Leah worked as a Senior Physiotherapist in the National Maternity Hospital since 2007 and was been part of the multidisciplinary team at the Pelvic Floor Centre, St. Michael’s Hospital, Dun Laoghaire since it commenced in March 2013, before setting up her own clinic in 2018. In 2020 she started a career break from hospital work to create a better work/family life balance to be around more for her two little people.
As well as treating patients with a variety of often complex, multifactorial issues with the bladder or bowel, including painful conditions and sexual issues, Leah enjoys her role in health promotion, meeting women in the year of pregnancy via antenatal education to give good advice on prevention and early management of pelvic floor problems. Leah has been teaching matwork and reformer Pilates since 2006 and has enjoyed taking clients from a rehabilitative level, when recovering from pain or dysfunction, to advanced level exercises.
She is a member of the ‘Chartered Physiotherapists in Women’s Health and Continence’ clinical interest group of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and is currently on a sub-committee looking into advanced practice for physiotherapists in the area of Women’s Health and Continence.
Leah is ‘a learner’ by nature and is continually attending courses to expand her knowledge and skills to provide holistic care for her patients. She is also keen to pass on her knowledge and years of experience and provides education to fellow Physiotherapists and well as guest lecturing at the School of Midwifery in UCD.
