ACUPUNCTURE AND DRY NEEDLING
Traditional Chinese acupuncture has been used for many years to treat many Different conditions.
In my training I have learned to treat painful conditions predominantly and I use needling as an adjunct to my regular physiotherapy techniques.
I find that acupuncture can be really effective for patients who are struggling with pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy and just find that every movement is painful . Acupuncture seems to help patients rest easier and sleep better.
I use it a lot as a technique to help patients Over come pain and to enable them to then participate more in strengthening exercises such as Pilates. As physios we often prescribe exercise as our treatment but sometimes you’re just too sore to even start that’s where acupuncture can come come in very handy as a tool for physiotherapist!
Acupuncture is also helpful for patients who may be on a fertility journey or struggling with conditions such as endometriosis or irritable bowel syndrome but this is not the type of acupuncture that I use and for this I refer to other colleagues.
