Frequently asked questions

Yes, absolutely! We are a baby friendly service! If you need help to bring baby upstairs please ask. If you wish to bring a mat for baby to sit on the floor and some toys or they can stay in their car seat. Either is fine. We do find however that moms probably get a better session if they’re on their own- purely because you can concentrate on just yourself but we do our absolute best to make everything as easy as possible, even with baby there.

Yes. It is possible to perform vaginal examinations, if a woman has her period. However, we understand you may not feel comfortable with this. If perhaps it’s a day where there is lighter flow, you might be okay. And if you prefer not to, there’s plenty we can do externally or through exercise so there’s no need to cancel.

Yes! All our physiotherapists are CORU registered and members of the Irish Society of chartered physiotherapists. Therefore, all major health insurers recognise our services. The amount you can redeem depends on the policy you have.

No! There is no need for a referral. However, if you have seen a doctor already and they have recommended physiotherapy some information from them may be helpful such as the latter results of the scan that sort of thing, but a formal referral is not required.

Yes. If you have a grade one or two prolapse, we are happy to size and fit pessaries and teach self management (if you would like). We do require an assessment by a doctor prior to the first fit of a pessary.
